How to Be a Doll (2023)

How to Be a Doll is a cocky and shiny monologue in the form of instructions for a doll. It’s a multidimensional rabbit hole; a fantasy within a fantasy within a fantasy within a fantasy… It is a stage play which attempts to transform its character into an inanimate object as an escapist conjuration. The libidinous text vibes in its complex solitude, exploits the noble Hamletian tradition, and submits to the audience in order to get more playtime!

The text is smeared with femme rage, bed sheets dirty with agony. How to Be a Doll is fighting for attention, willing to do anything. The monologue exists solely to be the audience’s little plaything.

How to Be a Doll got selected into the “Kotimaisen näytelmän festivaali” concert series (roughly translated: Festival of the Finnish Playwriting). It premiered 4.11.2023 at Teatteri Jurkka in Helsinki.

The text is currently under more construction and hopefully it will see more playtime in the future as well!
